🎨 Refresh Blank Hoodies with New Colors and Designs: A Complete Guide
Why try this out?
Winter’s around the corner. We can’t let you go out there with a generic-looking hoodie.
Don’t you want to wear something that shows off your wonderful personality? Something your friends, family, and strangers alike absolutely love?
What tools will you need?
💡 Sublimation Printer: Our pick is really easy to handle, and it’ll print out your selected designs in high quality.
🧤 Heat-Resistant Gloves: They’ll protect you from burning yourself while handling the heat press.
🏢 Heat Press: A large-sized heat press will make this sublimation process a seamless one. We recommend the Royal Press Industrial Machine.
🧥 Blank Hoodies: Brighter colors showcase sublimated designs better than darker colors. Also, make sure your hoodie has more polyester than cotton. The suggested range is between 80 and 100%.
🛍️ Lint Roller: It’ll remove dirt and debris from your hoodie.
🏜️ Printed Designs: You can create or find them on a design software like Canva.
🗒️ Butcher paper: This serves as a protective barrier between the hoodie and the heat press. In addition, it prevents ink transfer during sublimation.
🛡️ Heat-Resistant Tape: It’ll hold your design and the hoodie together.
📜 Sublimation Paper: Make sure you buy high-quality sublimation paper for printing out your designs.
Incorrect placement of the butcher paper can cause the designs to bleed out.
How does this work?
Step 1: Arranging Your Material
Print out your designs and arrange all your supplies so that they’re within reach.
Step 2: Cleaning Your Hoodie
Stretch out your hoodie and use your lint roller to remove all the dirty stuff.
Step 3: Preparing Your Hoodie
Select the part of the hoodie you want to sublimate. Then, place butcher paper inside the hoodie, directly underneath the chosen area, to prevent ink transfer.
Step 4: Cutting Out Your Designs
Carefully cut out your printed designs to fit the target area on your hoodie. Then, set the designs aside.
Step 5: Preheating the Hoodie
Turn on your heat press and put in the butcher paper. After doing that, place your blank hoodie on top. Finish up by putting a layer of butcher paper over the hoodie.
Preheat the target area for 10 seconds at 390 °F.
Step 6: Taping the Designs
Now, bring the hoodie out of the heat press with your gloves and tape your designs to it. Make sure everything is perfectly flat.
Step 7: The “Butcher Paper Sandwich”
Open up the heat press again and set the butcher paper first. Then, in goes the hoodie and the taped designs.
Complete this step by adding another sheet of butcher paper on top.
You’ll have a butcher paper sandwich.
Step 8: Sublimating the Hoodie
Close up the heat press and let it do it’s magic for 60 seconds at 390 °F.
Step 9: Cooling Off
Remove the sweater, let the designs cool for a bit, and then peel off the sublimation paper slowly.
Voila, your gorgeous hoodie is ready to wear! ✨
